Apple restores iForgot password reset page

Apple has restored its iForgot password reset page following the resolution of a security hole that allowed unauthorized resets to occur, The Next Web reports.

Following publicity about the flaw, which involved knowing the date of birth associated with an Apple ID and pasting in a modified URL, Apple took down the service and confirmed with us that it was investigating the issue.

Now iForgot is back and iMore has confirmed that the issue has been resolved.

Apple this week rolled out two-step authentication for Apple ID logins, and this security flaw is a reminder about why users should enable this enhanced security everywhere they possibly can.

Other popular online services supporting two-step authentication include Google, Facebook and Dropbox.
