Parliament break-in culprit Galstyan jailed for 2 months

Masis-born Vrezh Galstyan, who attempted to enter the parliament building armed with a knife, was arrested, a spokesperson at Prosecutor General's Office Sona Truzyan told PanARMENIAN.Net.

Galstyan was charged with the use of violence against an enforcing officer, in accordance with Article 316 of Armenia’s Criminal Code.

On March 22, Galstyan, armed with a knife, made an attempt to enter the parliament reception. The security officers warned him against entering the parliament; however he continued his way forcing the police to open fire. As a result, Galstyan was wounded when trying to escape. Parliament health service employee was the first to offer him medical assistance. Galstyan was later taken to Yerevan’s N 1hospital.

On March 25, the court ruled for a preliminary 2-month detention, with Galstyan to be taken to Nubarashen jail.
