Armenian National Assembly vice speaker Eduard Sharmazanov met on March 27 with the students of Yerevan State University and National Academy of Sciences.

Sharmazanov voiced skepticism over the possibility of the opposition’s unification ahead of Yerevan city council elections due to the continuous struggle between the forces. He noted that the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) stands for competitive struggle and will vie for victory, Yerevan’s prosperity and development prospects.

As for the possible dialogue between Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and former presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian, vice speaker said he stands for offering political solution to political problems, highly assessing the current leader’s ability to take objective and constructive decisions.

“The authorities should not conceal the existing deficiencies; while the opposition should not ignore the achieved and only point to the oversights,” Sharmazanov said.
