Kramnik about Aronian game: draw would be the best option

The dramatic 12th round of the Candidates Tournament made it clear there's no chess player with iron nerves, with Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian suffering a defeat by Russia’s Vladimir Kramnik.

"I’m happy with my play because everybody is already very tired and I’m not totally fresh, especially because it was the third game in a row. If you consider this, I think my level was quite high for this state of mind we’re all experiencing now,” chess-news.ru quoted Vladimir Kramnik as saying.

“I think I solved the opening problems if I had any. I thought it was the best choice for the white to make a draw with 15.Bxb5 f4 16.Bc4 Qe4 17.Bd3 Qd5 and so on. But of course it was not an option for the tournament situation," Kramnik said.
