Apple to launch revamped Mac Pro in April - report

Apple is planning to launch a revamped version of its Mac Pro computer over the next month, according to a report, Digital Spy said.

Mac Daily News claims that the Cupertino firm is hoping to launch the new machine in April, but notes that its release date could slip to June.

Aimed at the professional market, the Mac Pro is a high-speed machine built for multitasking, with a hefty price tag of around £2,000.

Apple last refreshed the hardware last June, upping its processor speed and the amount of on-board RAM, but neglecting to introduce features such as USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt technology.

The company was forced to discontinue its existing Mac Pro machines from the market in EU, EU candidate and European Free Trade Association countries in February after regulators ruled that their design falls afoul of recent legislation.

Apple will hold its World Wide Developers Conference in June, where new hardware could potentially be unveiled.
