Apple's iPad 5 to enter production this summer, report says

Apple's fifth-generation iPad will allegedly enter production this summer.

As Digital Spy reveals, Digitimes claims to have heard from the company's supply chain sources that the tablet will enter the final stages of its development between July and August.

The report goes on to say that the so-called iPad 5 will be lighter and thinner than its predecessor, with a slim bezel design similar to that of the iPad mini.

Sharp and LG Display are said to be providing 9.7-inch screens for the device, while TPK is assembling the touch panels.

The iPad 5 is likely to come with iOS7 pre-installed, which recent reports suggest will be a dramatic overhaul of Apple's mobile operating system.
