An unearthing of ancient Roman life was discovered in England, and with it, the origins of London, CNN reported.

Artifacts found at the construction site were preserved in the lining of an ancient river bed that's now in the heart of London. The artifacts recovered were pottery, jewelry and tools.

The find also included rare objects like a tiny amber amulet in the shape of a gladiator's helmet. Archaeologists believe it once belonged to a child.

The clues lead to an understanding of how the ancient people of Roman London lived, buried under a very modern city.

Archaeologists said there is likely thousands of years of history under the streets of London, depicting the life of the first inhabitants of London.
