Lionel Messi to organize summer friendly matches

Inter’s Antonio Cassano is one of a number of Serie A players who will take part in a variety of friendly matches organized by Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. The Lionel Messi and Friends initiative will see three games to take place in Colombia, Peru and the United States on June 29, July 2 and July 4 respectively.

Money raised from the encounters will be donated to the Lionel MessiFoundation.

Messi will play in a side that will contain Javier Mascherano, Emiliano Insua, Martin Demichelis, Pablo Aimar, Sergio Aguero and Inter’s Ricky Alvarez.

Cassano, who named his son Lionel in honour of Messi, will feature in a team that will also include Roma’s Pablo Osvaldo, Milan duo Robinho and Bojan Krkic, Napoli’s Marek Hamsik and 2006 Italy World Cup winner Marco Materazzi.

Fabio Capello and Zico will be in charge of the sides, football-italia.net reported.
