Pryakhin: Armenia's Corruption Record Better than in Other CIS Countries
«The OSCE mission in Yerevan stands side by side with organizations taking part in the UN Development Program and implements measures against corruption in Armenia,» Chief of the OSCE Office in Yerevan Vladimir Pryakhin stated in the course of a conference in Yerevan titled Using International Experience of Efficient Management in National Anti-Corruption Measures. In his words, already today one can see certain positive outcomes of the work done and according to expert assessments, Armenia's corruption record is more favorable than that in other CIS countries. «However, corruption is an evil of which immediate results cannot be expected. Struggle against corruption is a long process,» Pryakhin remarked. OSCE anti-corruption working group acts in Yerevan since 2000 and their major goal is to assist Armenia in solving that hard problem. In his words, encouraging constitutional reforms, independence of leaders, making legislation comply with European standards - these are the components necessary for efficient struggle against corruption.
