GUAM Requested to Involve Regional Conflicts in UN GA Agenda
Members of GUAM regional organization - Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine - consider that international mediation in the solving of protracted conflicts in the Black Sea/South Caucasus regions was fruitless. Thus, they proposed to consider examination of protracted conflicts a priority at the UN General Assembly 60th session. A joint letter of permanent representatives of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to the UN contains a request to include a new item, titled "Protracted conflicts in the Black Sea/South Caucasus Regions and Their Consequences for International Peace, Stability and Security, in the 60th session agenda, reported the UN Press Center.

The explanatory note attached to the letter underscores that protracted conflicts in eastern regions of Moldova, Abkhazia, Tskhinvali, South Ossetia in Georgia and Nagorno Karabakh pose serious threat to international peace and security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of three UN member states, reported Trend agency.
