Oskanian Presented Armenia Way after USSR Collapse to US Auditorium
November 21 and 22 Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian spoke in Los Angeles and San Francisco on the situation in the South Caucasian countries, reported the Press Service of the Armenian MFA. The Armenian FM presented the long way Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan had to pass after the collapse of the USSR. In his words, Armenia like neighboring Georgia and Azerbaijan, encountered important decisions after announcing independence: which political and economic system to choose.

Mr. Oskanian detailed Armenia's way, when Armenia not having natural resources in contrast to the neighbors managed to overcome the hardships of the economic crisis, imposed war and blockade, make the democratization irreversible and exceed the neighbors on the economic growth indicators. The Minister explained it with staring reforms in Armenia earlier, thus providing for more flexible economy. Armenia also received much international assistance and the role of the Diaspora was important. These include Linsy foundation , Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and a number of other organizations and private persons. Besides, V. Oskanian touched upon two important issues - the Armenian -Turkish relations and the Karabakh settlement.
