The Cannes Film Festival unveiled an international lineup of feature and short films for its highly selective, competitive section, Critics' Week, TheWrap said.

The series is intended to highlight first and second films from directors of great promise and in the past has helped highlight such notables as Wong Kar-wai and Bernardo Bertolucci.

Among the seven feature films vying for honors are "For Those in Peril," U.K. director Paul Wright's film about the lone survivor of a fishing boat accident; "The Major," Russian director Yury Bykov's account of a hunter who stumbles across a violent encounter; and "The Lunchbox," a romantic comedy from Indian director Dabba Ritesh Batra.

American director David Lowery’s "Ain’t Them Bodies Saints" will screen out-of-competition. The drama about an escaped convict impressed when it screened this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

"Suzanne," Katell Quillévéré's family drama about two sisters, will be the competition's opening night film. A closing night film will be announced shortly, the festival's backers said.
