Naomi Watts has entered talks for Ted Melfi's St Vincent de Van Nuys.

The Impossible star is in line to join Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy and Chris O'Dowd in the comedy drama, Digital Spy reported citing Deadline.

The film will star Murray as an embittered old man who becomes the unlikely companion to the 12-year-old son of his neighbour (McCarthy).

Watts will play a Russian prostitute who also develops a close relationship with the hard-drinking man.

The actress's upcoming projects include Alejandro González Iñárritu's black comedy Birdman and the starring role as Gertrude Bell in Werner Herzog biopic Queen of the Desert.

20th Century Fox will unite with Chernin Entertainment and Don Cheadle's Crescendo on St Vincent de Van Nuys, which will begin shooting in July.
