Conference on Unrecognized States Opened in Geneva
Multiculturalism and Ethnopolitical Models in 21st Century conference devoted to problems of unrecognized states in the territory of the former Soviet Union opened in Geneva today. Representatives of Nagorno Karabakh, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transdniestria take part in the event. Besides them, OSCE representatives, Russian and western experts will participate in it.

«We will try to attract attention of western experts to representatives of those unrecognized states. It is necessary to discuss a very important question: what to do next. These republics are already mature for life as independent states,» stated Chairman of the Council of Free Europe Foundation Sergey Stepenkov. The conference major goal is to discuss ethnopolitical problems in Europe and determine prospects of conflict settlement. Political scientists, experts, as well as representatives of unrecognized states will address the event.
