The Great Gatsby has released a series of new promotional images, Digital Spy said.

Leonardo DiCaprio's Jay Gatsby and Carey Mulligan's Daisy Buchanan are among the cast featured in the pictures, which debut ahead of the film's theatrical bow in May.

The film sees DiCaprio reuniting with his Romeo + Juliet director Baz Luhrmann for the lavish 3D adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald's classic roaring '20s novel. Tobey Maguire takes on the supporting role of narrator Nick Carraway.

The supporting cast includes Indian cinema icon Amitabh Bachchan as Meyer Wolfsheim, Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson and Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan.

The Great Gatsby will open in US cinemas on May 10, with a UK release following on May 16. It will open the 66th Cannes Film Festival on May 15.
