Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian thanked his fans on his Twitter page for the congratulations on his win at Alexander Alekhine Memorial. “Thanks to everybody for the congratulations! It was a special feeling to play my best game on a very sad day for us, Armenians, April 24,” Aronian wrote on his Twitter page.

Aronian beat Russia’s Peter Svidler on April 24, on the Armenian Genocide remembrance day.

On May 1, he scored 5.5 points out of 9 to win Alexander Alekhine Memorial by additional points.
