Russia quite content with Azeri President, public figure says

Russia is quite content with Azeri President, having no interest in promoting democracy in the country, Azerbaijani-American screenwriter, dramatist, producer and public figure Rustam Ibragimbekov said.

“Russia seeks to hold the key to Karabakh conflict settlement, only pretending to be unhappy with the situation in Azerbaijan. Azeri authorities mean to discredit the idea of a National Union by insinuating the latter to be a Moscow-authored project,” he noted.

“The U.S., on the other hand, actually wants reforms in Azerbaijan and worldwide. However, it’s up to us to act: no one will help us unless we’re willing to make a change,” the Azeri dramatist said.
