Erdogan: Pamuk Defense Campaign May Press on Turkish Justice
"The propaganda campaign targeted at defending Orhan Pamuk can exert pressure upon the Turkish justice. I was sentenced to 10 months, however at that time no one spoke of the rule of law or respect of human rights. I thinks, this move implies double standards," stated the Turkish Prime Minister, who is on formal visit to Australian at present. According to Hurriyet Turkish newspaper, Erdogan called upon the journalists and society to wait till the completion of the trial. "If the court acquits Pamuk it will be good. It will put at end to the legal proceedings against him," the Turkish Premier said adding that during the recent three years Turkey "fixed considerable progress" in the human rights field.
