Google has released a new and improved native YouTube app for Windows Phone 8, Digital Spy said.

The previous edition of the video-sharing service was a bare-bones offering, but its successor has been rebuilt from the ground up to take advantage of the operating system's live tiles layout.

Windows Phone 8 users can now pin videos, playlists, channels and search results to the live tiles screen and manage their YouTube profiles in-app.

The move suggests that Microsoft and Google's feud over YouTube could be coming to an end. The former had accused its competitor of blocking access to YouTube features due to the way the service was coded.

Microsoft also announced that a revised YouTube app for Windows Phone 7 is in the works, but did not provide a specific release date.

The new YouTube app is available as a free download from the Windows Phone Store.
