Putin: Russian-Armenian Relations Develop Rapidly
"The relations are developing rapidly, the trade keeps growing and we continue contacts at the highest level," Russian President Vladimir Putin said when starting the meeting with his Armenian counterpart Robert Kocharian in Sochi. Vladimir Putin thanked Robert Kocharian for the attention he paid to the Year of Russia in Armenia that is coming to an end. "In the near future we are expecting you in Moscow to open the Year of Armenia in Russia," the RF President said. For his part Robert Kocharian noted that the year of 2005 proved very efficient for the development of the Armenian-Russian relations. "The commodity turnover and investments are increasing," he said.
The Armenian president voiced hope that the speed picked up this year will be maintained next year. Robert Kocharian noted that a system like the ones functioning in the economic and military-technical fields might be formed in the humanitarian sphere as well. "I am grateful to the Russian party for the conduction of events within the Year of Russia in Armenia," he added, reported Russian media.
