Film about Armenian Genocide to Be Shown in U.S. in 2006 Spring.
CS Associates has acquired the international rights to the one-hour documentary special The Armenian Genocide, set to broadcast nationally next spring on PBS. With deals already in place with Finland's YLE and Spain's Historia, the film reveals the story behind one of the largest genocides in history, carried out by the Ottoman Empire during World War I, which saw more than one million Armenians killed. Emmy-Award winning producer Andrew Goldberg uses interviews with acclaimed scholars Peter Balakian, Samantha Power, Ron Suny, Taner Akcam, Halil Berktay, and Israel Charney to explore the incident, taking a direct look at Turkey's denial of the genocide. The film is narrated by Julianna Margulies and includes historical narrations by Ed Harris, Natalie Portman, Laura Linney and Orlando Bloom.
