Olympus rolls out PEN E-P5 connected camera

Olympus has unveiled the PEN E-P5 connected camera, its latest Micro Four Thirds mirrorless offering, Digital Spy said.

The flagship snapper comes with WiFi connectivity, a retro-themed design and smartphone sharing features via the Olympus Image Share 2.0 companion app.

The PEN E-P5's core features include a powerful 16-megapixel TruePic VI Live MOS sensor, a mechanical shutter offering speeds of up to 1/8000, and a 1.04 million dot high-definition tilt-type display.

This is the first interchangeable lens shooter from Olympus to launch with WiFi support. It is also compatible with all of the company's Micro Four Thirds lenses.

Olympus's PEN E-P5 will be available next month with a price tag of €999 (£843) for the camera alone.

Kit bundles are also available, with the camera on offer with a 17mm 1:1.8 aperture lens for €1,449 (£1,223) or with a 14-42mm lens for €1,099 (£928).
