Saoirse Ronan is reportedly being eyed by Marvel Studios for the role of the Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2, Digital Spy said

The Hanna actress is the company's "prototype" for the role, according to Super Hero Hype.

Marvel is said to want an actress in her twenties for the role of Wanda Maximoff. Ronan will be turning 20 around the time that filming will be under way on the project.

Writer-director Joss Whedon recently teased that the Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver will feature in his 2015 sequel. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige seemed to confirm the plans while warning that the script was still liable to change.

There have been rumours that negotiations with the returning stars of Avengers have begun to grow heated in regards to salary demands.

Ronan was most recently seen in the Stephenie Meyer adaptation The Host.

She will next appear in Byzantium, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Violet & Daisy.

Avengers 2 is scheduled for release on May 1, 2015.
