French Foreign Minister hails relations with Armenia

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius as part of his visit to Paris.

The French minister congratulated Minister Nalbandian on reappointment to the post, hailing relations with Armenia.

For his part, Minister Nalbandian highly assessed the ties between the two countries, noting that they are based on the friendship between Armenian and French people.

The ministers further praised the development of bilateral relations, the political dialogue, the French companies’ investments in the Armenian economy and the active cooperation in the fields of science and culture.

They stressed the need to expand economic partnership, with Minister Nalbandian welcoming the growth of French investments.

Armenian-EU ties, the country’s chairmanship in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and the cooperation in the framework of International Organisation of La Francophonie were further discussed.

Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement was also on the agenda, with Minister Nalbandian giving high assessment to France’s constructive involvement as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair.

The foreign ministers later exchanges ideas on international issues, Iran’s nuclear program and Syria crisis, RA MFA press service reported.
