Armenia to develop diplomatic ties with New Zealand

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Manasaryan met with the newly-appointed ambassador of New Zealand Hamish Cooper (residence in Moscow).

Deputy Minister Manasaryan congratulated the envoy on the appointment, voicing hope that he will contribute to the development and strengthening of the relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Cooper, in turn, pledged to take efforts to develop bilateral relations, stressing the importance of Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s visit to New Zealand and the agreements reached.

The two further dwelt on the cooperation between the two countries in the framework of the international organizations, development of trade and economic relations and expansion of legal framework.

The role of New Zealand’s Armenian community as a link between the two countries was further discussed.

Deputy Minister Manasaryan briefed on Armenia’s and international community’s efforts aimed at the peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, hailing New Zealand’s balanced decision on the issue.
