PM: Armenia didn’t drop idea of new NPP construction

Armenia hasn’t abandoned the idea of building a new nuclear power plant, Prime Minister said.

In answer to the question of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group member Naira Karapetyan as to the reasons why NPP construction was not included in the governemtn program, Tigran Sargsyan said the process was portponed by 2 years.

“The new plant will be constructed after the current one is finally out of operation,” he said.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan, in turn, noted that negotiations are currently underway on extending the operation term of the current NPP.
