During May 22 Q&A time at National Assembly, Heritage party’s parliamentary group member Zaruhi Postanjyan asked questions as to the ongoing works in Yerevan’s Covered Market.
“Covered Market is a cultural monument, and its demolition is nothing but a crime against morality,” the MP said.
Minister of Urban Development Samvel Tadevosyan, in turn, said underground construction works were to be carried out in the market, with above-ground construction works proved to be ongoing.
“The builder was subjected to administrative liability, with the construction works later halted. The Covered Market facade will remain unchanged,” he said.
