Energy price may increase by AMD 7-8 per kilowatt

Energy price in Armenia may increase by AMD 7-8 per kilowatt, said the head of the tariff policy department of the Public Services Regulatory Commission.

As Garegin Baghramyan told a May 23 news conference, the increase in energy tariffs is prompted by a price hike for gas used in production, as well as the nuke power plant-related security fears, and increase of salaries in view of a recent personnel drain.

Earlier, ArmRosgazprom CJSC addressed Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission with an offer to reconsider natural gas prices, as well as the prices for the services of gas supply operator (ArmRosgazprom CJSC), gas distribution (ArmRosgazprom CJSC) and gas transportation (Transgas CJSC and ArmRosgazprom).

According to the company’s press service, the current price for consumers of up to 10 thous. cubic meters a month was set at AMD 132 thous. for every 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas (VAT), with the offered price to total AMD 221 (VAT included).
