PACE president: 2013 may be turning point in Karabakh settlement

2013 may become a turning point in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, President of Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) said.

Dwelling on Azerbaijan’s forthcoming chairmanship in Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Jean-Claude Mignon hailed PACE’s opportunities to reconcile both parties and reach agreement on the issue, according o APA.

“We think 2013 will be a turning point, given Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s chance to take specific measures. Both Yerevan and Baku will assume chairmanship in CoE Committee of Ministers. Prevention of conflicts, as well as speedy resolution of the existing conflicts were among the key goals of the formation of the CoE Committee of Ministers,’ PACE chief said, stressing the need for Armenia and Azerbaijan to take constructive steps for the conflict settlement.
