HTC One Google Edition to be put on sale

Google is to sell a special edition of the HTC One running pure Android, Digital Spy said.

The handset will offer a "Nexus user experience" and be available through the Google Play store in the US from June 26.

The smartphone, which runs Android 4.2.2 without the HTC Sense interface, will be priced at $599 and come with 32GB storage.

The HTC One Google Edition had been rumoured for some time, with recent reports suggesting it will be limited to just 50,000 units when it launches.

HTC's Lead Designer Claude Zellweger recently told Digital Spy that the firm has built a "strong brand with the One" and is looking at ways to "harness that in the best possible way".

A Google Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 was confirmed earlier this month.
