120 killed, 70 injured in China’s poultry plant fire

At least 120 people were killed and 70 injured after a fire broke out at a poultry factory in China’s northeastern province Jilin, RIA Novosti reported citing Xinhua news agency.

The fire broke out at one of the factory’s hangars in the city of Dehui at around 6:00 a.m. local time on Monday, June 3, when some 300 people worked inside the building.

The gates of the hangar were locked at the time of the incident, but about 100 people managed to flee the facility saying later that at first they heard an explosion and then it was followed by a spreading black some.

The government set up a special investigative committee, led by head of State Administration of Work Safety Yang Dongliang, to establish the cause of the incident.
