Lithuanian official says economic ties with Armenia important

At the invitation of Lithuanian Saeima speaker Solvita Āboltiņa, Armenian delegation led by parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan started on May 4 an official visit to Lithuania.

Ms. Āboltiņa highly assessed the political dialogue between the two countries, stressing the need to further strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation. She hailed the course of the development of Armenia-EU relations, voicing readiness to share Lithuanian experience in European integration. Ms. Āboltiņa attached importance to the deepening of economic ties, stressing the need to fully use the existing potential. In this context, she particularly highlighted the importance of cooperation in the framework of Eastern Partnership and international organizations.

Speaker Abrahamyan, in turn, underscored the significance of development of inter-parliamentary relations for boosting interstate cooperation. He cited recent intensification of Armenian-Lithuanian political agenda as a proof of mutual readiness to develop ties.
