7 Georgian soldiers killed in Afghan suicide bomber attack

A suicide bomber detonated a small truck loaded with explosives in southern Afghanistan on Friday, June 7 killing seven Georgian soldiers, the U.S.-led coalition forces and Georgian officials said, according to Reuters.

The incident took place on Thursday evening in Nawzad district in the battlefield province of Helmand, local officials said. On May 13, three soldiers from the ex-Soviet state were killed in a similar attack in Helmand.

The incident brings to 30 the death toll of Georgian soldiers serving in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
