Armenian constitutional court resolved on June 11 to postpone the discussion of the case based on Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian’s appeal. The case disputed the compliance of Articles 5 and 26 of RA electoral code with RA Constitution.
Raffi Hovannisian is represented by Heritage party’s parliamentary group member Zaruhi Postanjyan and Karen Mejlumyan.
Constitutional court member Felix Tokhyan offered to postpone the discussion of the case for two weeks, stressing the need to study the additional documents and international experience. The court president Gagik Harutyunyan, in turn, resolved to postpone the discussion of the case until July 16, in the face of the existing problems with the schedule. It was resolved to hold the next court hearing on July 16. Article 5 of the Constitutional Court relates to the establishment of election headquarters and formation of the voting lists by the candidates and pasties/blocs.
Article 2 relates to the funding of the campaigns of the candidates, parties and blocs.
