Red Granite may snatch Farrelly Brothers' "Dumb and Dumber To"

"Dumb and Dumber To" might find its home in Red Granite. As AceShowbiz revealed citing Deadline that the Los Angeles-based film production, finance and international sales company "is in first position" to snatch directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly's upcoming project after Warner Bros. decided to walk out of it.

The sequel to 1994's hit comedy "Dumb and Dumber" will most likely see the return of its original cast members Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels to reprise their respective roles as duo Lloyd and Harry. The upcoming feature will follow the two buddies on a road trip to find Harry's illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant.

The original film's the directorial debut of the Farrelly brothers. Developed by New Line Cinema, it performed well at the box office by grossing $127.2 million domestically and $247.3 internationally.

Additionally, the cult classic led Carrey, who was just starting to be one of A-list stars at that time, to win big at the 1995 MTV Movie Awards. He won trophies for Best Comic Performance as well as Best Kiss, sharing it with his on-screen love Lauren Holly.

The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news of Warner Bros.' exit, learns that New Line will still get a licensing fee and a share of backend if "Dumb and Dumber To" finally finds its suitor.
