Iran denies Bushehr nuke plant malfunction

Iran has denied reports that the country's Russian-built Bushehr nuclear power plant has suffered a malfunction, Belfast Telegraph reported.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araghchi said that no problem has been reported by responsible authorities.

Iran's ambassador to Russia Mohmoud Reza Sajjadi said on Monday, June 10 that the Bushehr facility suffered a malfunction in its main generator.

Araghchi said Sajjadi's comments were probably misrepresented.

The facility is Iran's only operating nuclear power plant and is located on the southern port city of Bushehr on the Persian Gulf. It was officially opened in September 2011.
