GPI names Armenia most peaceful country in region

The Global Peace Index 2013 was released, providing an insight into peace around the world. The GPI, produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, is the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness. It gauges ongoing domestic and international conflicts, safety and security in society, and militarization in 162 countries.

The GPI placed Armenia 98th (up from 115th), with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Iran taking 126th, 139th, 134th and 137th spots respectively.

The Global Peace Index reveals Iceland as the world's most peaceful nation.
