According to a decree of Armenian President Robert Kocharian February 7 Armenfilm company Director Gevorg Gevorgyan is appointed Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs, reported the Press Service of the Armenian leader. Orinats Yerkir Party Political Council had put forward the candidacy of G. Gevorgyan for the Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs. During the discussions a letter on behalf of 50 cultural workers supporting the candidature of the Armenfilm Director for the post was taken into account. Outstanding cultural workers including Sos Sargsyan, Hovhannes Chekidjyan, Yervand Manaryan, Gegham Grigoryan and others signed the letter. As film director Mikael Dovlatyan told PanARMENIAN.Net, Armenian cultural workers are positive about the possible appointment of Gevorg Gevorgyan as Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs, since "he is a good administrator and professional."
