Ukrainian scientist: Genocide recognition humanity’s duty to its past

Ukrainian scientist, G.S. Skovoroda Philosophy Institute director Miroslav Popovich supports Supreme Rada’s initiative for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“I’ve long been waiting for Ukrainian politicians to make a step to express our firm stance on the Armenian issue,” Popovich told Analitika.at.ua.

“Genocide recognition is not only an attempt to restore justice and express sympathy to people who fell victim to mass atrocities, it is also a duty of the humanity to its past,” the scientist said.

On June 6, a draft resolution on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide was submitted to Ukraine’s Supreme Council. The bill was initiated by parliamentarians Vilen Shatvoryan and Arsen Avakov.
