A unified simulation training system will be created in the Russian Armed Forces by 2015, the deputy commander of the Russian Navy said on Thursday, July 4, according to RIA Novosti.

The system will be in use with all branches and services of the Armed Forces, Vice Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov said at the International Maritime Defense Show (IDMS-2013) in St. Petersburg.

All Navy training establishments have an acute need for training simulators, and knowledge and skill assessment tools, he said, and urged developers to become more actively involved in defense R&D projects.

The Russian Armed Forces are in the midst of a major program of reform, including a gradual transition to an all-volunteer makeup, organizational changes and reequipment with modern weapons.
