German media: Borussia close to inking Mkhitaryan transfer deal

Borussia Dortmund still hopes to beat Liverpool to the signature of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, sport1.de said.

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said the club will be careful in managing their finances and has no intention to overpay for the 24-year-old midfielder.

According to the source, Mkhitryan agreed the terms of his contract with Borussia.

Liverpool had lined up Mkhitaryan as a priority signing, but deal has been a complicated one because of legal issues concerning Mkhitaryan’s ownership and the timing of his transfer fee payments, with Shakhtar keen for a single lump sum up front, foreign media report.

Borussia has offered 23 million euro for the Armenia player transfer, the sum Shakhtar will most probably be satisfied with, sport-express.ru said.
