Yerevan has repeatedly appealed to Tbilisi concerning the restoration of the railway communication through the Abkhazian territory, which was interrupted due to the hostilities in 1992-1993. As reported by "Mediamax" agency, Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze said today. He called the parties interested in opening the railway to assist in the settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, establishment of peace, after which the resumption of the railway and motor communication would become possible. The Georgian president noted that he was in favor of resumption of railway communication through the territory of Abkhazia, too, but "the process should develop simultaneously to the returning of Georgian refugees to Abkhazia."
