Nicholas Burns: U.S. State Department Disappointed with Outcomes of Rambouillet Talks
The U.S. Administration is cooperating with the Russian leadership and France for the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, U.S. Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns said, reported Nezavisimaya Gazeta. "We are disappointed with the outcomes of the Rambouillet talks. We thought this summit was a good chance," he noted. According to the American diplomat, there have been a great number of attempts to settle the conflict and the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders in Rambouillet was the most promising. "We have a great wish to continue collaboration with Moscow and Paris to help Armenians and Azeris to achieve final agreement. As for the North Caucasus, this is certainly Russia's internal business. The U.S. has some questions regarding the situation there and we raise them from time to time to our Russian counterparts. However the dialogue on problems of international character including Georgia and Nagorno Karabakh is more natural," Nicholas Burns added.
