Juno Temple to join “Far from the Madding Crowd” novel adaptation?

Juno Temple has reportedly entered talks to star in Far from the Madding Crowd, Digital Spy said.

The British actress is said to have screen tested for the role of Fanny Robin in Thomas Vinterberg's adaptation of Thomas Hardy's classic novel, according to the Daily Mail.

Carey Mulligan has signed up to star as Bathsheba Everdene in the film, which is scheduled for a 2014 release.

Producers at DNA Films, BBC Films and Fox Searchlight are said to have sought out Temple for the role of Sergeant Troy's lover before he meets Bathsheba.

Temple is now reportedly organising shooting schedules with other projects before officially signing up for the film.

Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts will also star as Gabriel Oak in Vinterberg's version, while Matthew Goode has been linked with the role of Troy.

Far from the Madding Crowd was previously adapted by John Schlesinger in 1967, starring Julie Christie, Terence Stamp, Peter Finch and Alan Bates.

Juno Temple will star opposite Amanda Seyfried in Lovelace, which will open in UK cinemas on August 23 and August 9 on limited release in the US.
