Iran mulls opening trade center in Armenia

Iran is mulling a possibility of opening a trade center in Armenia to expand economic ties with the country, Tehran Chamber of Commerce chairman said.

As Yahya Ale-Eshaq stated during a Yerevan-hosted Armenian-Iranian business forum, the center will deal with transit-related issues and promote development of trade.

As Mr Ale-Eshaq futher noted, Armenia may serve as a transit route to Iran on the way to other CIS states, while a multimillion market of Tehran’s neighbors will become open to Yerevan

Deputy Economy Minister of Armenia Ara Petrosyan, in turn, urged full use of trade potential between the countries, noting that in the years to come major efforts are necessary to double the current trade turnover of $300 million.
