PBS Debate to Open Truth on Armenian Genocide to US Audience
April 17 PBS intends to televise a panel discussion featuring two known Armenian Genocide deniers following the April 2005 broadcast of "The Armenian Genocide" by Andrew Goldberg of Two Cats Productions. The two Genocide deniers are Justin McCarthy and Omer Turan. The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has voiced the profound opposition of the Armenian American community to PBS's intention. However, Jacoba Atlas, PBS's Co-Chief Program Executive, replied that the recognizes the Armenian Genocide as a fact and says "the majority of historians, nations and news organizations recognize the Armenian Genocide." In Atlas's opinion, the fact that most Americans are not aware of the main point of what has happened to Armenians is an excuse for providing platform to the panel discussion with participation of the Genocide deniers.
