Armenian Community of Abkhazia Didn't Offer Unification with Armenian Organizations of Georgia
The Armenian community of Abkhazia refutes information on the formation an All-Armenian Coalition of Georgia. "This information is false. The report that "the Abkhazian Armenians expressed wish to participate in the negotiation process and appealed to both parties to think over the positive contribution the Armenian communities of both sides can make for the conflict settlement" does not correspond to reality either," co-chair of the Armenian community of Abkhazia Galust Tarapisonyan stated. He rated the reports as provocation targeted at destabilization of situation in Abkhazia and stirring up national tension in the republic, reported Apsnypress.

Besides, the statement that PanARMENIAN.Net received from Nor Serund, the Union of Georgian Armenians says, "We would like to say that the Armenian community of Abkhazia did not appeal either to us or to any other organization that signed the statement of 10 Armenian organizations of Georgia that caused our activity on the above mentioned events. All the initiatives, declared in the statement are the intention of the above mentioned Armenian organizations of Georgia.

To remind, according to an information published earlier, Armenian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of Georgia intend to form an All-Armenian Coalition. The Armenian community of Abkhazia has authored the initiative. In their opinion the move is necessary for them to represent their interests in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict. Armenians of Abkhazia intend to take part in the talks on settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict and, while addressing both parties, think of the positive contribution all Armenian communities at both sides of the confrontation can make for establishing inter-ethnic balance. Members of organizations functioning in Abkhazia addressed international structures expressing their willingness to be active in solving the conflict and forming elementary living conditions. According to unofficial data, 67 thousand Armenians live in Abkhazia today and there are 36 Armenian schools. April 14, 2004 the Union of Armenians of Abkhazia was formed.
