"Vampire Academy" hit novel series adaptation trailer released

The first trailer for The Weinstein Company's upcoming young adult horror thriller, "Vampire Academy" has been released and as it turns out, even those who never die do fear surviving high school, TheWrap said.

Mark Waters ("Mean Girls") directs the adaptation of Richelle Mead's popular novel series about Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch), a female teenage Dhampi -- a half human/half vampire -- who must protect her kind from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi.

"I don' know about you, but my school can get a little insane. Most of us stay up all night. And all of us think that we'll live forever," Deutch's voiceover narrates in the trailer. "If we survive graduation, that is."

Lucy Fry co-stars as Deutch's BFF, Princess Lissa Dragomir, and "Modern Family" cast member Sarah Hyland plays their pal, Natalie.

Olga Kurylenko, Gabriel Byrne and Joely Richardson are among the adults starring in yet another attempt to cash in on a fading craze which reached its peak when "The Twilight Saga" was still in theaters.

"Vampire Academy" debuts in theaters on Valentine's Day 2014.
