Sony to unveil PlayStation 4 release plans at gamescom 2013

The release plans for the PlayStation 4 will be shared at gamescom 2013, it has been revealed, Digital Spy said.

Sony also plans to provide updates regarding its current-generation consoles PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita during the trade show.

"We'll kick off the show at 18:00 BST on August 20, 2013 with a briefing to media on our release plans for PlayStation 4, as well as updates on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita," read a statement on the official PlayStation website.

"Once the Koelnmesse opens its doors to the public, PS4 leads the way as gamers get to try out the next generation in console gaming for the first time, and there's plenty to get excited about on PS3 and PS Vita too."

The news comes after the firm announced it will be bringing some unannounced titles to this year's gamescom.

New software for the next-generation console will also be unveiled.

The PlayStation 4 is on track to launch this holiday for $399 in North America and £349 in the UK.
