Tom Hardy real-time thriller “Locke” unveils new clip

Tom Hardy's Locke has debuted its first clip, Digital Spy said.

The video shows the actor making a cagey phone call as the title character Ivan Locke.

Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Redemption) has written and directed the real-time thriller, which also features Ruth Wilson and will premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

The film centres around a man whose life is utterly changed when he receives a mysterious call.

"Shot in real-time, Locke breaks new ground in movie making with Hardy holding the screen alone while the camera never blinks," said Knight.

"The night-time highway is part-back drop, part-art installation, as a stellar cast play the people Ivan loves and hates and who witness his extraordinary journey to despair and ultimately to redemption.

"A man's life transformed in half a tank of gas. I believe the journey of Ivan Locke is deeply moving and utterly compulsive."

The Venice Film Festival will run from August 28 to September 7.
